ABOUT FKAJAZZ

FKAjazz is a New York-based Grammy-nominated saxophonist, Billboard-charting music producer and DJ who fuses jazz, electronica, hip hop and soul to create a unique and genre-bending sound. His music is characterized by its lush melodies, intricate arrangements, and soulful saxophone solos.

FKAjazz began his musical journey at a young age, studying piano, violin & saxophone. He went on to study jazz at the University of New Orleans, where he studied with world-renowned trumpeter & movie-scorer Terrance Blanchard who scored films for Spike Lee & others. After graduating from the University of New Orleans, FKAjazz went on to earn his Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the Manhattan School of Music.

In 2017, FKAjazz released his debut album, "Stereotype Threat." The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish FKAjazz as a rising star. The album was praised for its innovative sound and FKAjazz's unique saxophone playing. In 2019, his sophomore album “Beautifully Awkward” hit the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album charts at #15.

FKAjazz has since released a number of singles and EPs, including “Bubblegum Dream,” "We Don't Need No Roads," and “Meet Me Halfway.” He has also toured extensively, performing his music all over the world including Japan, Germany & UK.

• FKAjazz's name stands for “formerly known as jazz,” which represents the idea that all music comes from the lineage of jazz and is therefore “formerly known as jazz,” and also represents his personal journey as a former jazz musician now immersed in the popular music of today. 

• His Grammy nomination was for his role in a jazz album by Miguel Zenon entitled “Identities Are Changeable.” 

• He is also the co-founder of a MusicNFT & Apparel company called “OMGjazz” that launched in March 2023.

• In 2008, he began his exploration into music production, forming the Electronic music duo, Pax Humana before starting his solo career as FKAjazz in 2016.
